The purpose of this essay is to establish a relationship between childhood, orality and death from the narratives Campo geral (1956), by the Brazilian writer João Guimarães Rosa and Terra sonâmbula (1992), by the Mozambican author Mia Couto, with the objective of demonstrating how the intersection of these elements contributes to the constitution of a peculiar language in the two narratives.
