Ìjàjàgbara nítorí ìwọ̀sí tó máa ń wáyé látọwọ́ àwọn tí a jẹgàba lórí wọn ló sáábà máa ń bí àwọn akínkanjú jagunjagun nílẹ̀ adúláwọ̀ (ilẹ̀ Áfíríkà). A guerra não é como um casamento, nem como dormir com uma mulher que acaba de dar à luz. A história demonstrou isso de várias maneiras, por meio das matanças, da escravidão e da opressão impostas por governantes a cidades que careciam de força suficiente — muitas vezes devido ao orgulho ou à inveja de terceiros. A rebelião contra a opressão exercida pelos dominadores costuma forjar guerreiros valentes no mundo negro (África). Este artigo examina a conspiração de soldados contra seu Comandante-em-Chefe, analisando como as tropas de Lisabí se voltaram contra ele após uma vitória conquistada. Tal fato é evidente na história de Lisabí Agbongbbo Akála, na terra de Abéokuta, narrada por Olu Owólabí. Rebeliões contra esses líderes frequentemente resultavam em suas mortes, com eles sendo forçados a recuar até que a água lhes entrasse pela boca — como ocorreu com Lisabí. O estudo utiliza metodologia descritiva e a teoria do Novo Historicismo para demonstrar que, antes da chegada dos brancos (*Oyinbo*), já existiam dominação, opressão, caos e diversos conflitos entre assentamentos, vilarejos e cidades. Era nesse contexto que liderados frequentemente derrotavam seus líderes, como aconteceu com o caso de Lisabí. O trabalho confirma que, quando soldados estão à frente do poder, a chama do desenvolvimento social jamais brilha com intensidade.
