Èròńgbà wa ni láti; (a) ṣe ìwádìí ọgbọ́n tí Aláàfin dá láti gbé àṣà Yorùbá lárugẹ; àti (b) ṣe àyẹ̀wò ipa tí ó kó láti dáàbòbò àṣà àti ìṣẹ̀ṣe Yorùbá. Iṣẹ́ yìí ṣe àmúlo tíọ́rì aṣèdáàbòbò-àṣà ìbílẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí atọ́nà béẹ̀ ni a lo ọgbọ́n ìṣèwádìí ìfìwádìí -ṣètúpalẹ̀ -alámùúyẹ ní ìlànà “ó-ṣojúù-mi-kòró” ṣe ọ̀nà ìgbàṣe iṣẹ́. Ì̀wádìí fi gúnlẹ̀ pé, Aláàfin ṣe àyípadà sí ipò Ọba tí ó sì fi bá ìlànà òde òni àti àtijọ́ mu èyí tí ó mú ki ipò náà sì wà ní àìlèfọwọ́rọ́ sẹ́yìn di òní bí ipò òṣèlú tilẹ̀ ń yípadà. Entre os oito Alaafins de Oyo que governaram Oyo de 1835 a 2022, o Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III destaca-se pelo seu amor inabalável pela cultura e pelas tradições iorubás; tal característica o distinguiu e o consagrou como um herói entre os reis que governaram Oyo e o restante do país. No entanto, não houve trabalhos de pesquisa significativos que o tenham estabelecido formalmente como um herói iorubá. O objetivo deste trabalho é examinar o papel desempenhado pelo Alaafin Adeyemi III na preservação e restauração de seu palácio, bem como da cultura e das tradições iorubás em geral. Pretendemos: (a) investigar a estratégia criada pelo Alaafin para promover a cultura iorubá; e (b) examinar o papel que ele desempenhou na proteção da cultura e das práticas iorubás. Este estudo utiliza a teoria da proteção da cultura tradicional como diretriz e emprega o método de pesquisa *alamuüyü* (investigação-análise), fundamentado no princípio de "*o-sōjuù-mi-koro*", como metodologia de trabalho. A pesquisa concluiu que o Alaafin transformou a posição do rei, tornando-a compatível tanto com princípios modernos quanto antigos; isso conferiu à função uma perenidade que perdura até hoje, a despeito das mudanças no cenário político. O trabalho conclui que o Alaafin permanece como um pilar da cultura e das práticas iorubás. A pesquisa demonstrou a necessidade de uma relação entre o governo e os reis para assegurar a proteção adequada dos costumes e práticas, bem como a sua promoção.
