Abstract: Globalization, a phenomenon that permeates the cultural, economic and social aspects of the contemporary world, plays a significant role in the formation and maintenance of Mozambique's national identity. This article analyzes the dilemmas and constraints faced in the search for a strong and representative national identity in a context of increasing globalization. The study is based on a comprehensive literature review to understand the extent of globalization in the current scenario and its direct influence on the experiences and perception of identity of the Mozambican population. Furthermore, key elements that outline Mozambican national identity and the changes that have occurred due to increasing globalization are identified. We identify that globalization brings opportunities and challenges to Mozambique's national identity. On the one hand, globalization promotes cultural and economic interconnection, enabling the exchange of ideas and cultural influences. On the other hand, there is a risk of cultural homogenization, loss of traditional values and dependence on external influences. Additionally, we explore how globalization affects the Mozambican economy, addressing issues such as foreign investment, international trade and migration. These factors have direct impacts on national identity, as they shape the socioeconomic conditions and opportunities available to Mozambicans. We conclude that, to create a strong and representative national identity in Mozambique, it is essential to embrace cultural diversity and the economic opportunities offered by globalization, while preserving local values and traditions. It is a complex challenge, but fundamental to building a resilient national identity in an increasingly globalized world.
