Modos de transformar: o “onjango” o “ocoto” e o “ociwo” em espaço socio-cultural, económico e habitável, na conservação dos valores tradicionais, no município do Bailundo (Huambo, Angola)

This article deals with the ways of transforming: “Onjango”, “Ocoto” “Ociwo” into a sociocultural, economic and habitable space, having as a theoretical basis an attempt to conceive of the Umbundu culture with strong roots in the province of Huambo, through the municipality of Bailundo, which has since been considered the center of the Ovimbundu in Angola. From our approach we were able to confirm the ideological, cultural, philosophical and economic richness of the Ovimbundu even before they underwent any exotic assimilation.
Being practices of Angolan ancestors, they teach us about collaboration and a sense of community.
They function as examples of a forgotten social reality and African cultural specificity, which helps to find and understand some assumptions for the construction of contemporary African thought.
By reflecting on the most relevant aspects of this traditional cultural anthropology that reveals the way of thinking, the article highlights that Ondjango or “Ocoto” “Ociwo traditionally constitute the space from which the rules that guide the communities of some peoples in Angola emanate, as it is conceived as a traditional public space of the community, where the meeting and listening of the word takes place. In this sense, it is considered a space of communication. As a foundation, where sharing, creation, and confrontation between human existence and the cosmos can occur.
